This is a photo of the bike you are bidding on. It is a vintage hand-made bike, they simply do not make them like this any more.Condition
The bike is in reasonably good condition. This bike had a full top-to-bottom service in December (five months ago) and has been kept indoors for most of its life. There is some general wear, as is to be expected of a vintage bike, but the hand-made steel frame is in great condition. Bicycles from this era were made to last, not like modern machine-made and easily-discarded bicycles.
Commuting
I have ridden this bike to and from work on my daily commute. The bike is certainly up to the job and will get you to work in style. At work I also kept this bike indoors.
Frame
All steel frame, hand made and had welded in Nottingham, England at the Raleigh Factory by skilled craftsmen and women. Observe in the photos below how the frame is beautifully joined together and the detailing and care that is taken. Many modern bikes, by contrast, are just spot-welded together and look ugly.
The paintwork is not perfect, there are a few scratches bit the bicycle has been very well cared for. The photos below will give you a good indication of this.
Wheels
26" alloy wheels.
Gears
Sturmey Archer three-speed gearbox.
Pedals
The pedals are orginals, this is quite rare in a vintage bike. The raleight logo can be seen on the pedals foot tread.
Handlebar
The original Raleigh logo and plaque can be seen on the handlebars (see photos).
Hand grips
The white hand grips are originals, this is quie rare for vintage bikes and for this model in particular.
Cables
As with many features on this Wayfarer, the white cabels are originals. All these original features adds to the collectors appeal of this bike.
Weight
The bike weights 17 Kilos (2 stone and 9 ½ pounds)
Accessories
In addition to a lovely bike, the winning bidder will get:
Saddle
This is a high quality Brooks saddle. This saddle is not an original but is very comfortable, matches the elegant style of the bike and costs £70 new. I am not supposed to link to another website from ebay but if you visit the Brooks Saddles website you will get an idea of the quality and confort of these saddles.
Pick Up Only
This is a heavy item to send by post, so I am afraid you will have to pick it up. Alternatively I can deliver in North London but for a fee of £25
I have been very happy with this bike, I will be sad to part with it. The Wayfarer is a great bike, very well made and and a good brand.
Another view of the bicycle. There are many original features on this bike including hand grips, white cables, pedals and crank.
The wicker basket complements the bike perfectly and is a large enough to accomodate most handbags
Sturmey Archer three-speed gear change and the gearbox are originals and still work perfectly

The chain guard . Note also the original Raleigh chain cog with Raleigh logo.
The pedals on this bike are originals. Note the Raleigh logo on the foot tread

The Brooks saddle. The saddle comes with its own protective case
Another view of the Brooks-made saddle. This saddle is extremely confortable to sit on.
This gives you a good idea of the extent of the scratches the frame has.
Brakes. These are also originals.
Here you can see the Wayfarer logo.
